To each his own, but IMO, the best thing to do is to
listen to people with experience.

Please do NOT take this as disparaging your point of view.
If you find the manuals helpful in your policy decisions,
buy all means use them. Let us know the benefit of your
actual experience. Please. I'm not kidding.

For my part, I do not find it credible that you'll get the
straight word from Microsoft in the persona of Win 98
manuals (or anywhere else, for that matter). It's not
so much that they have an ax to grind (though they do),
but rather that they have different motives. Such as
reducing support calls or goodness knows what other
agenda that you and I don't know about. I do know that
actual experience often proves vastly different from
the microsoft comic books (oop, I mean manuals).
