Re: calling it an act of war. Yes, that is a clarifying and usefully simplifying shorthand, I agree.

Re: Blaming Netanyahu. I do place considerable blame on Netanyahu for the general atmosphere of heightened Moslem antagonism towards not only Israel, but also the United States. Bin Lauden may well want to do his evil thing regardless. But the resonance of support for virulent anti-American attitudes and even support for terrorism among wide swaths of Moslems on the street in the Middle East has a lot to do with Netanyahu's dashing the hopes for a compromise peace created by Rabin and Perez in the Oslo accords. I think there should be much more American pressure on him to try to reasonably implement the Oslo accords.

American pays greatly for its support for Israel. I'm strongly in favor of it. But it should not be a blank check, regardless of Israeli policies. And Netanyahu is quite problematic, in my view.
