I think it is a scandal that only half of the Dow 30 opened on the open today, while everything in NASDAQ opened as always. I think it is high time to replace the specialists with computers.

Daily occurrence. Specialists (NYSE/AMEX) don't open a stock until they get a balance. Market Makers (NASDAQ) just bang the price around a bit and start trading at the open with no attempt to stabilize the stock. Delaying the open results in less volatility.
