Looks to me like the video driver would be a good place to start. Maybe go to the video card manufacturer's web site and see if there are any driver updates to correct for any conflicts. A start maybe?

sire, i'm most likely in way over my head here, but for grins.... if you have stb vision, you could try removing it from your start up folder and see if there's a difference. you might also look at loading new video drivers from stb's site or from the video chip manufacturer (http://www.s3.com/). sometimes you get better (more stable)drivers from the video chip manufacturer.
