Linda,

Excellent post. We need more quality one like this especially during
the comeback time. I bet viewers from SI will get more knowledge
on how powerful MAC is as opposed to PC. We all love MAC just
because they are superior to the other one. iMac will not only bring
Apple in the activated mode, but it also makes AAPL as one of the
most successful stocks in '98. I have been waiting for this moment
for a long time and it seems the time has arrived.

Phil

Off Topic:

I don't have an addendum per se, but a tip that many Mac users overlook that gives PC users the impression their machines are faster in the "real world."

Does the speed at which your Delete key backspaces over text seem slow, or does your cursor seem to crawl its way through your text documents when using the arrow keys? Do you wish it was faster? The solution is simple, go to the Keyboard control panel and set your Key Repeat Rate to the fastest setting and the Delay Until Repeat to slow or the next higher notch. You'll be amazed at how much faster your cursor will fly over text when moving around or deleting it (Key Repeat Rate), and you won't have to wait so long for it to start the process once you press a key (Delay Until Repeat). Apple's default settings are somewhere in the middle for both until you change them.

Note: If you zap the PRAM on your Mac, you'll have to reset these two settings, as that is where they are stored.

<<The G3 292mHz is faster than any PC you can buy. >>

I've been doing some investigation into overclicking or "clock chipping" as it seems to be known in the techno geek community (no offense guys).

Apparently, you can take a standard Mac Plus and overclock the thang to 1 Gigahertz!! Blowing away the G3 and the Pentium II with speed to spare.

Apparently, the Mac Plus was over-engineered. There is is a jumper setting that you use to set the motherboard for 256 bit processing. How much is Merced? 64!

However, the drawback is you need 1 liter of liquid nitrogen to run this thing for one hour.

I'd like to make one just to hotrod around and show some of those Pentium II users!

As for the liquid Nitrogen, does anyone know anything about Nitrogen recycling systems on a small scale?
