Price and financial pressure on makers of DRAMs and flat-panel displays is sufficient that near-term shortages will be the inevitable result, he said.

"[DRAM and flat-panel-display] companies can't raise rises," said Enderle. "So they'll have to either cut back production or shut down plants. And that could lead to shortages, though not before the end of [1998]."

phb, i meant they'll report a loss of $100 million+ within a month. they NEVER announce to guys and gals like us on the micron thread. just their "inner circle."

they'll take it down and then they'll run it back up again.
