<<I think the authority is there to assist and encourage, as long as the ways aren't oppressive and unreasonable>>

If the methods used were agreed to by the Congress, or only included words, I would agree.

j b, the whole discussion of the subject of Federal comments on values was started by when someone (Michelle, lorrie?) who said she "remembered" the "family values stuff" -- a reference to for instance VP Dan Q.'s comments on the Murphy Brown TV show glorifying the single parent family.

That's why I brought up the Constitution -- in my view the Constitution provides plenty of authority for the Federal Government to, (it was with words in this case) "encourage" ways in which to raise healthy, happy families. That's what this whole discussion was started from. But it also shows that when we have the Federal executive head of government getting caught taking blowjobs from underlings working in his White House, and then lying his silly ass off about it to everyone, he's not exactly working to uphold the goals and intents of the Constitution -- which goes against the oath he swore upon taking office, to uphold the Constitution.

Throw the bum out.
