"Totally agree. And at least some of the Presidents support is actually a backlash against this thinking."

Actually, my support of him is for this very reason. I never voted for him, but for the Libertarian the first time and Ralph Nader the second time. Between Clinton and the wingbats, we are faced with the classic choice: which is the lesser of two evils (that word again).

I don't like Clinton because of his willingness to sacrifice the personal privacy of us regular Americans -- the Clipper chip; ID numbers for our medical records, things like that. Maybe its a cosmic irony that his current nightmare is such a dramatization of what the loss of personal privacy can do and does do to the public realm.

PS: How do you italicize the type in postings? Thanks.

Very astute observation Michelle and the bane of the right wing.

To most, Clinton rarely seems worse than buffoonish.....his more zealous detractors come across as vile, skulking cowards...sniffing for blood and, well...

Unless Clinton can be shown to be more than just an irritant, or until the right wing seems less menacing, the majority will opt for the former.

Most people will view this as the predictable versus the possibly malignant.

It's the reactionary's dilemma....a challenge they seem unable to meet.
