Dimitry, your comments are the popular wisdom. As a contrarian I would ad that Germany, the UK and the US can not affortsd to have your scenario unfold.

It will be much more cheaper to support the ruble and stabilize the Russian economy than to try later solve the potentisl civil war or the return of the communists.

Also remember there ar $20 to $30 billion in aid ready to flow into Russian economy after the laws will pass.

Longer term Russia is a question mark IMHO, and I only hope that the government will be able to control the local mafia who are closely connected to the communist party.
