Dwight, do you realize that it was Gov. Ronald Reagan who started defunding California schools starting with the UC system (which cost less than $200 per quarter before he started) and who shut down the state's mental hospitals in order to save money and who so infamously said "you've seen one redwood, you've seen them all" when attempting to privatize the national redwood forests? Republican Gov. George Deukmejian continued the slicing and dicing of the public school system, and Republican Gov. Pete Wilson has presided over its near floundering (except in wealthy communities.)
