decisionpoint.com

my favorite decisionpoint chart, cause it's the one thing I've
done right lately :)

airlines and autos have lost pricing power. new cars are coming
out priced lower than last years models, and I'm sure everyone
has heard or read about the airlines failure to raise prices
last week. finally something good for consumers!

In computer land, note that Dell has now matched Compaq in unit
volumes. Dell is no longer playing catch up. Those of you
following this battle will know that CPQ has initiated its own
build to order program which works through retailers. While
the move seems like too little to late, since dell has rather
slight 8% margins, any decrease in their outstanding volume
growth will make the p/e seem out of line.

Before anybody calls me a dim permabear, let me just ask a question.
Can the economic events which are foretold and depicted in such
things as the A/D line and the CRB be fixed by a 10% correction
in the large cap stocks?

Bobby, it is not that I am so bullish but that I find it difficult to be very bearish at this time, with the summation so oversold, even by bear market standards.

<<The summation has been skewed by the abundance of new issues in this bull market>>

Most new issues get listed on the Nasdaq, and therefore do not
affect the New York exchange a-d figures.

Caution rules; use close stops.

oversold summation readings:

5/29/70 -2123

3/31/80 -2142

10/29/87 -1979

current -2088

This figure could elongate a bit and could cause quite a bit of damage in two or three days doing it, so it is no time to fall asleep.

The question is, how probable is such an outcome right now.
