Osama bin Laden 1980's--joined the Afghan resistance against former soviet Union 1992----Claimed responsibility for the attempted bombing of US servicemen in Yemen. 1993----Suspected of financing the New York World Trade Center bombing; thought to have supplied weapons that struck US helicopters during Operation restore in Somalia. 1995----Suspected of involvement in bombings in Riyadh and Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. Reportedly supported a failed 1995 plot by Egyptian radicals to assassinate Egyptian President Hosni Mubarek in Ethiopia. 1998----Implicated in the bombings of the US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania.
