I remember playing with PLCs - Programmable Logical Controllers. It is small computers with I/O modules to control chemical, manufacturing, etc. processes. Due to the nature of their job, they are controlled by RTOS.
The one that I played with was very primitive, but it would reset itself if locked out for more than 30sec. Not sure about 30 sec., but that was certainly in the sec. range.
