Favors' decision to go 50% short came right off his hotline. Anyone can verify this by calling 1 900-820-2727. Dial "1" as soon as the other end answers, and you get his short and long term trading strategy recommendations. The call will cost $1.80 I think. He made the call on his 12:30pm Friday hotline update, when the dow was hovering around 8326 or so. His stop on the trade is set at 8611 on a closing basis.

I did not see the CNBC interview, so I can't help you with any apparent contradictions. Obviously, he's advising his clients to short the market here, no matter what he's saying in public.
