I think it will be a non-factor because by the time the TGX and MGX are
released to production, the GX550 and CBX500 will be Lucent products. As Bind
noted, they are at least a year away from introduction, and then yet another year or two
away from being bug-free. As of now, they are not even on the radar screen for the
carrier customers. The carriers I know of who have committed to Cisco are focusing on
the GSR and Packet over Sonet.


MGX IS in production and IS winning accounts. TGX is slated for Q4...not a year away. I'm not sure where this misinformation is coming from. As for investment in ATM... true Cisco is pushing hard on GSR and IP over Sonet, but Cisco also has a way of covering all the bases. They have a huge Multiservice WAN group... To say they're not investing there is crazy. They probably spend more on R&D in this group than ASND does as an entire organization.
