Uh oh. Youre in trouble now buddy.

You realize of course that historically many of the top works recognized today as masterworks were in fact scandalous, pornographic or considered just plain junk. The problem with debating this topic with the self-proclaimed "censors" (Falwell, et al) is that art history is a complex study and the average Joe just doesnt know what the details of the past were on all these works - they simply know what they like. Popular tastes are almost never aligned with the pieces that stand the test of time. Example - Picassos 3 women, a cubist nude, if produced today would surely fail Falwells scrutiny. Otoh Leroy Neiman's suite "10 great golf courses of the world" would probably pass (Leroy Neiman is the king of schlock art). Poopular art NEVER stands the test of time.

BTW Im a modern art collector. Just an FYI. Not trying to antagonize you I just like to talk about art.
