Stitch, all these are band aid, there are two problems that need be addressed, overcapacity and paucity of final demand. The first problem must partially be solved by liquidation, the second is in the hands of Japan, they have the wherewithal to increase final demand by a good $200 billions which will revive the Rim's economies and restart the growth there. From a political point of view, they should not screw up this time and build a freer economy where assets are deployed according to market forces not government dictum and eliminate what we now call "crony" capitalism. Just my 2 cents.
