CIMA, while I'm not as paranoid as that article, the result of terrorism can be the creation of a police state. An open society such as ours is perfect a target. We then do to ourselves what a global war can't, self destruction of personal freedom. A war has casualties, they must be expected and accepted as the price of freedom. I suggest that we adopt tactics consistent with terrorism, counter terrorism directed at the persons challenging us. The former USSR never had a serious external terrorism problem. They would seek out the terrorist's families, extended families, friends, associates, and their families, and then brutalize them. Castrations, dismemberment, and disfigurement where punishment. Not a bad approach IMO.
