What do you think of the following? LU needs ASND and whether the integration turns out good or not, LU will make an offer for ASND. Without ASND, LU doesn't stand a chance. With ASND, they still might screw up. However ASND holders shouldn't care, unless they intend to hold LU stock after the merger. Meanwhile, ASND can't stand alone. So an offer will be made.

I think there will be an acquisition because both LU and ASND will benefit from a merger. That doesn't mean LU and ASND couldn't go it alone. It's just I believe that together, they provide far greater shareholder return on equity than if they were separate companies.
