different time zones :>
re oil prices etc..was thinking that a rising oil price would help
the demerging countries since finally they could start charging more and also make it in dollars regardless of where their currency is
re:your property taxes...OUCH what kind of a spin can government and economists say to that for deflationary trends :-)
re:brokerage in midtown is paying for it itself..I think..hubris ..shouldn't they know better? that is why I think the top for this cycle is near besides the long hemlines
re:consumers and 70 percent of the economy.. that is why I thought that the market had more to go..up until recently I thought that it was corporate spending that was fueling the economy..and the consumer hadn't kicked in that much..now the consumer is kicking in big time
..yes..they were buying cars, refinancing their homes..now with the latest housing starts..largest in 11 years..probably their spending has peaked..but retailing stocks for past couple of years finally came out of their malaise..but I thought the reason why this has been the longest economic cycle was because it was slow and the consumers hadn't entered the party in the cycle for a very long time..now they are here..
re Japan banking crisis: I thought Japan has been in a banking crisis for seven years and now it has finally come to showdown time
re:market.. thought the market hates uncertainty so once decisions are written in stone..markets will discount all and continue on their merry way..but don't know how they will discount unknowable year2000
ramifications..
yes.. about Tyson food :-)
re:government raises..interesting how the press hasnt focussed on that one..the workers say they have been underpaid for years..but so have a lot of US citizens who don't even have benefits..
too bad the government to save money gets rid of all the government benefits for its workers and gives them what the average very hard working US citizen gets...that would save a fortune right there
ps.. isnt Southeast Asia already in a depression
isn't China technically in a depression..thought depression was when 20 percent of work force out of work..
gee ..is there a world for beyond depression.. how many workers in Indonesia have lost their jobs?
am waiting to see if the Europeans are going to make an announcement shortly that with this huge currency crisis they are going to postpone ad infinitum their common currency.. or rethink it through..I am certain some countries in the system don't want the liabilities that other countries have assumed..
