RE:It's also possible that Intel is doing 0.18 process development with III's, and will buy new equipment (from SVG or elsewhere) once they ramp production. That's the most likely scenario, since people that have talked to engineers at Intel have stated that Intel's 0.25(0.20 drawn gate length) process is based on Micrascan II+/QMLs. David Alexander commented that they can tweak these systems to do 0.18, but for production it is most likely they will purchase Micrascan III+s or better for the reasons you cite regarding process latitude.
