I have both Syquest EZ Drive 135 and Iomega ZIP 100. I was advised not to get 1 Gig outfits , because we tend to copy a lot of stuff in the 1Gig drive and if we lose it we lose it all. For daily back ups, I was recommended to zip the files if it is too big for the EZDrive 135 or Zip 100. Use one separate disc - more discs - for each day of back up. Hope this helps.

After sustaining a loss of data, I picked up a Syquest Syjet 1.5 gig drive with SCSI connectors. Best investment I ever made. It combines the best of both worlds for backup and independent hard drive.
