Looks like "lucky goldstar" is going for market share. Many vendors are now advertising golstar as their lowest price PC100.

the lowest listed Micron I can find is $91, but the "major brands" offered as low as $75 are often Micron.

The only "major brand" which currently commands a premium, as far as I can tell, is the Samsung CAS2. I do not know why since other chips also go to 125 MHz, but its a 15-20% premium.

Hewlett-Packard Co. introduced two new
computers -- the Pavilion 8390 and the 8395 PC.
Both will contain the Intel Pentium II 450-Mhz
processor. They'll be priced at $2,499 and $2,599,
respectively. The company (HWP) said the duo will
include 19-inch monitors and 8 megabytes of video
memory. Shares slipped 3/4 to close at 54 1/8.

Micron Technology closed higher, even after
positive remarks by analysts at Robertson
Stephens, who upgraded the stock to a "strong
buy" from a "buy." Analysts Daniel Niles and Alex
Mou cited projected increases in PC demand as
well as the recent market decline as factors making
the stock attractive. Shares of Micron (MU) rose
1/4 to 30 3/16. The analysts set a price target of
$40 a share. Share rose 1/8 to 30 1/16.
