No, their argument here is considering that he borrowed it from Bob Dole it doesn't really count as a payback.

In other words the Dems want Newt to feel pain at having to pay it back...like a 'pay-back'. If Newt pays back the loan to Dole there's no difference is there? What the Dems really wanted was for Newt to resign from the speaker's position and go bankrupt-they would have been really happy to see that-it would have 'made their day'.

So Newt gets a loan from Dole to help him out with the promise to pay it back. BC has financial problems, brought on by his own irresponsible behavior, and gets gifts/donations to his legal fund, tax free I think, from the hollywood elite that have no intention of being paid back. Where were the 'elite' when Newt had financial problems? He had 'one' person step forward to try and help and caught a lot of ridicule doing so. The same with Paula Jones who catches hell because she sought the help of the Rutherford Institute, an admittedly conservative organization, to help her with the financing of her lawsuit. What I've never heard asked or explained is the fact that no women's groups or other liberal organizations were about to help her go after one of their own. What choice did she have?
