'GAO Releases a Devastating Assessment of U.S. Government

Joel Willemssen of the General Accounting office of the U.S.
Congress has written a devastating assessment of the woeful y2k
condition of the U.S. government. If you have entertained even a
grain of hope that the U.S. government will meet the deadline, this
document will cure you.

It was released on August 13.

GAO has begun releasing its y2k documents only in PDF. This
drastically reduces their usefulness. It's harder to read than HTML,
and there is no way to use index/search. This makes it far less likely
that the public will read GAO's y2k reports.
