excellent post. change of strategy is needed as the market fluctuates. The small caps will be back someday, just not tomorrow.

No I am not intending to buy oils Sergio, but I keep a watch list so I know where I want to go if a something happens to make think the time has come, and I am removing KEG from my prime list unless Cary can convince this attempt to acquire Dawsons is a wise move--
On the curiosity front ExideBattery(EX) rose 1&3/4 points on heavy
volume on Friday--FWIW,talk of a hostile takeover is on the EX thread---this stock has a huge short position on it,and on Monday
S&P removed them from negative credit watch and affirmed an outstanding rating---but stock went down because CEO said there will be NO sale of the company.Max

Sergio wrote< Unfortunatly, our market does not exist in a vacuum and we need to once again

the Big Kahuna threads day will finally come. The Family Trust portfolio which I have some responsibility in,I had it reduced from 68% equity 54% and it is now heavily weighted to utilities and REITS--
and I think stocks like NEM,HM,and ABX have a place as a hedge holding now.Max

Sergio.....

Well said....wish I could write like that....smile...I agree completely....liquidity, politics, and currencies are in my opinion the three keys....where we go from here is out of our hands...there are so many variables right now that can make or break our market...we need to watch, wait and be very, very careful....

Yeltsin's move today firing his prime minister of 3 months is just another example of the unknown variable....this kind of news causes jitters worldwide...wish I had the answers....

Well, stay well everyone...and think before you invest...smile...

Sergio,I still think there is still a place for story stocks--story stocks by definition have bad to worse PEs---but with a story stock you must study the story intensely, and the management capabilities--
MSFT and CISCO were once mere struggling story stocks.IMHO,Max
