I am not that familiar with Webauction.com.

Just checked it out briefly, and it looks like it is an operation of MicroWarehouse, and it looks like computer equipment primarily.

This kind of company would have carrying costs of their inventory, as does OnSale.

There are many potential threats to eBay, but I don't expect this to be one of them.

I would say that the two companies eBay will have to keep a close watch on are AOL and Microsoft. Possibly even Yahoo, or one of the other major web portals.

AOL has the user base, and I think eBay started out with some gateway from AOL. Yahoo has lots of traffic. And Microsoft can do almost anything it wants.

In fact, eBay would make an excellent purchase for AOL.
