GLOBAL THERMOELECTRIC INC. ANNOUNCES SUCCESSFUL FUEL CELL TEST CALGARY, Aug. 28 /CNW/ - Global Thermoelectric Inc. (ASE: GLE) announced today that it has successfully tested its first Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (''SOFC'') that was totally manufactured in Canada. Global has obtained leading edge SOFC technology from one of the largest research institutes in Germany. By combining this technology with commercially viable manufacturing techniques, the Corporation plans to develop electric power generating equipment designed for applications such as telecommunications and cable television distribution. The testing of the first cell made in Canada using volume oriented manufacturing processes rather than laboratory methods is an important milestone in Global's fuel cell project. With over 20 years of field experience under the harshest climatic conditions, Global Thermoelectric Inc.'s solid state generators have proven to be the most reliable and economic power source for remote applications. The Company is also involved in the design and manufacture of a new line of crew compartment heaters for use in military vehicles, as well as working to commercialize leading edge solid oxide fuel cell power generating equipment.
