My sister wants this computer to last until the Merced makes its way into the PC mainstream (est. 2002 according to PC World). I wouldn't want her to have to upgrade just because I told her to save $100 by getting a Celeron A. You're right, the Celeron A does appear to be a much better idea than the Celeron was. But, if I were Intel, I would have marketed it under a new name. "Celeron" is already to known to many to be a poor chip and folks will have to research what the Celeron A is all about.

In addition to the difference between the 128k and 512 cache, I am told that she should get a machine with the 100Mhz bus and I don't think that is available with the Celeron A. I say these words and I am not sure what I am saying but it sure does sound good.
