Actually, I didn't. Absentee ballots aren't counted unless the total number exceeds the margin of victory, which is to say never. That, plus the necessity of dealing with the embassy, has discouraged me from voting.

I probably would have, though. By '92 I was sufficiently tired of Bush to vote for practically anybody else. Dole was by his own admission "too old for this", and failed to inspire; besides, I've always preferred not messing with success. I do think on principle that no one party should hold the seat for more than 8 years straight. I hope the GOP can come up with somebody better than Newt, or another dinosaur, next time around.

I'm really not comfortable with the usual liberal/conservative delineations. In economics I'm conservative, but the ideological baggage that goes along with the sound economics is a real turnoff. I think we need both liberals and conservatives - liberals to detect problems, conservatives to solve them - and in a rotation that prevents either from ever having completely free rein.

Steve

MIchael, You make a lot of assumptions that are wrong. I voted for Perot, then Clinton. I will probably never vote Republican, though. They are too "Holier than thou" for me.

I am not a fan of Clinton, but it's the ones who were out to get him from the start that disgust me far more than his actions.
