I believe Netcom uses primarily 3Com Total Control Hubs.

Yup, this makes sense. BELFA, a 3Com component supplier, wrote in their June Q earnings release...

Bernstein noted that Bel has commenced initial shipments of components for Digital Subscriber Line (xDSL) applications. He
added: ''To support development and production of new products addressing xDSL and other emerging technologies in the
telecommunications industry, we recently dedicated a new 36,000-square-foot facility in the People's Republic of China,
including approximately $1 million of infrastructure and equipment.

Bet those are 3Com TCHubs offering xDSL through Netcom.
