08/24 03:23 *Phytopharm<PYM.L>Ssays Pfizer <PFE.N> interested in Other Products

LONDON, Aug 24 (Reuters) - British botanical drugs group Phytopharm Plc <PYM.L> said on Monday that U.S. giant Pfizer Inc <PFE.N> was looking at other products in its portfolio in the wake of its decision to license obesity treatment P57.

In a telephone interview with Reuters, Chief Executive Richard Dixey said the accord was also likely to act as a "shot in the arm" for ongoing negotiations with a number of other companies, including some of similar calibre to Pfizer.

"I think this is a milestone. If you think of a partner, this is no diddlysquat (insignificant) pharmaceutical company, this is Pfizer -- it will make people sit up and think Phytopharm is talking to multinationals," Dixey said.

"Pfizer is the right partner, it validates Phytopharm and as far as other negotiations (are concerned) it should provide a shot in the arm for those."
