Eric's style has been to "take the high road" relative to competition, so I'd be surprised to see any of your suggestions occurring. I think the onus is on investors to extrapolate based upon what's happened since Eric became CEO: [1] Novell has produced and performed nearly 100% on Eric's initiatives; [2] He has succeeded where most said Novell had no prayer; [3] Novell is positioned stronger than ever to satisfy user requirements going forward; [4] Novell is financially strong with earnings and balance sheet strengthening; [5] BOD added two "significant indicator" members which investors don't seem to comprehend yet; [6] Netware 5.0 adoptions in the stated material accounts should pose the question "why wouldn't all like them do the same?", etc. As to CIO's, perhaps the best thing to happen to Novell will come when CIOs "bet their careers" as early adoptors of NT 5.0, which is when we'll see the strength of their convictions when confronted by their technical staffs. This, realistically, probably won't happen until after 2000. With NW 5.0 operating smoothly, what will the cause CIO's to convert to NT for much more than an application server? Wall Street simply doesn't believe any vendor can succeed against MSFT, which has been more true than not when MSFT had a competing product. The balance of 1998 will show the revenue growth potential for all of Novells/Eric's product, organizational and marketplace advancements. I've been invested since Eric joined and have never liked my chances more than today! Good luck....
