Thank you Zeev for your support. You're willingness to review the numbers speaks well of your willingness to think 'outside of the box'. BTW- my Terraforming reference was intended to be terraforming of portions of Earth, which may get the ecologists in an uproar due to the unknown interdependecies present in Earths systems.

I believe you have hit the nail on the head; there are many opportunities to invest the Human species resources. In fact, our imagination is the only limit. And many efforts are underway, including efforts by biotech and hightech companies close to home.

I'm aware of efforts by spacedev.com to initiate near earth exploration (though I hear the SEC has looked into them). Mining of near earth asteriods is their initial target, as I understand it. Don't have any association with these individuals currently.

Sometimes I like to step back and look at the big picture, and I have to wonder about our species choices. I know it's just a matter of resource allocation. I don't quite know how the resources should be allocated. I'm not entirely comfortable in relaxing while expecting free market capitilism making the optimum decsions.
