Unfortunately, MAC is not my style. In fact, I have bought
a PowerMac 266 with 160MB RAM which I gave to a friend who
help to do art work design for me. No, it is not impressive
to me at all. I don't know why you have the feeling that
MAC is faster, it is not to me.

I don't have to. If the market analyst prediction is true,
I can buy a complete machine(sans monitor) for 400 - 600 which
is equivalent to a P233 at least. If I feel it is not enough,
go buy a Celeron-A for 200(may be 250) and I turned it into
a even powerful machine. I don't know if DIY can be cheaper
in this case.
