No they didn't. Being left wing ideologues themselves, they couldn't stomach the thought of supporting a woman whose cause was mostly being championed conservatives.

I believe that the National Organization for Women has come out in support of Jones (albeit after twiddling their thumbs for a few years).

Since when? Right after the Lewinsky story broke, the Chairwoman of NOW was asked by a news anchor why they have remained silent on the Jones' lawsuit. The NOW Chairwoman replied "We think she has a political axe to grind". In other words, they would not and could not back a woman who was accusing Bill, who has been politically a perfect "10" president, from the NOW point of view.

I think anyone who has even half a brain knows by now that the N.O.W is purely a political action group working on behalf of abortion rights - up to and including the moment of birth. Notice that even though both the senate and the house passed a partial birth abortion ban (except to save the life of the mother), Clinton toed the N.O.W. line and obediently vetoed the legislation.

Clinton is a dream come true for the N.O.W. --- There is *no way* on God's green earth that they would do anything to jepardize that.
