Foolish is a harsh word. Very few people could have foreseen the events which seem to be dominating the global investment landscape currently. Seems that, in retrospect, the gold price was the best indication of the deflationary trends which are currently exerting their influence over all commodities. But, the world will somehow survive this, albeit in a form perhaps which differs from the current one. However, patience is required, as I do not believe that there is sufficient motivation as of yet to motivate the federal reserve to change policies. Thats because the damage to our stock market has not yet become a political problem. Not yet. I think it will, eventually. And then, voila, the fed will ease and gold may shine and resource stocks may come to life, as the choice to reflate injects some life back into the sector.
