Constance - I at first glance was surprised by Newt's statement today. But keep in mind that Newt is a *very* smart politician, and as we can see from DougHboy's enthusiastic support of Newt's statement, Newt has once again demonstrated his savvy political skills. The things to keep in mind are those that have been mentioned already:

Until Starr's report is examined by Congress, there is *no* benefit to accrue to Republicans for the Speaker of the House to make hasty judgements. There would be everything to lose and nothing to gain by Newt coming out with some Clinton-damning remark, at this time. Newt will bide his time until he knows there is sure support for whatever is politically expediant.
