fiberman,

First of all, I think the Savage 3D is a great chip. I think it makes S3's stock, at its current price, an interesting investment opportunity. If the Savage 3D can compete against the G200 in the $130 price range, S3 stock could go from $5 to $20.

Second, the P3 will be a much higher end chip than the Savage 3D. While it should be great for gaming, I believe that it will mainly be designed into Windows NT workstations.

Finally, I don't follow ATI. I know that their Rage Pro card has a majority OEM market share, and they just won a 15 million unit deal with GI for set top boxes. They are doing great, but there is little talk about their next generation chip. I have no idea if they are looking to buy anybody out.

Here is an update on P3 info:

Notice the talk of P3 available this fall? That would be nice. I still don't think that STM can build it.

Pravin.
