For the time being I'll stick with the CRB as a primary gauge. Let's see: almost non-existent consumer demand in Japan and deflationary (yes, deflationary spiral); ditto in south korea (which, incidentally, can't even afford raw materials to manufacture exports); no pricing power by the airlines which should be -given demand- (and low oil prices) one of the stronger industries; almost no demand for high tech u.s. equipment from overseas coupled with mounting layoffs in virtually all high tech companies in the u.s; repeated acknowledgments from u.s. companies that they have no pricing power....

as far as I can tell here in California housing prices are flat with the exception of a few select areas, i.s. silicon valley, san francisco, marin county...
