Wintel Misconceptions

RE: " one thing I know is that it is much more expensive to
equip a PowerMac(modem cable is more expensive, SCSI cable
is more expensive, almost all peripherals are more expensive)." Gary Ng

Gary, SCSI is a standard:
A SCSI cable is a standard cable. A Wintel SCSI cable is a standard SCSI cable. A Wintel SCSI cable is also an Apple SCSI cable. If they are the same cable and come from the same bin at the same store, then they cost the same and neither one is is more expensive than the other.

The same is true for all standard peripherals, from mouse pads on up. They all come from the same bins. Sorry. I hope that, in fact , this was not the only thing you do know. ; -)

Hal

PS: I will grant you that Apple type products do have a higher perceived value in the minds of enough buyers that a standard SCSI cable or HD with an Apple logo on it may often command a higher price in the market place. But, that's just the result of buyer preference.

Presumably, are we are to believe that a Wintel clone customer, if given a choice, always would opt for the cheapest of any SCSI cable or HD selection offered? Is quality brand naming a factor in the Wintel world? Is the cheapest possible clone box made from the cheapest available parts deserving of a quality SCSI cable? Perhaps? Perhaps not? HR
