There was a late Friday press release by US West (an interview with Jessica Hall) wherein it was stated, "U S West Inc., the Colorado-based Baby Bell, said it does not need a merger partner to thrive but instead can succeed on its own by offering its customers new services and products such as data and video."

My guess is since US west relies on QWST "to provide service to national customers", the market is adjusting to the fact there is one less potential buyer in the game.

GO BIG RED!!!
