GV, the value of patents to protect ones inventions are very
clear in the following " The panel found that Agfa's activities
threatened to "prevent Presstek from completely exploiting
the technology and know-how Presstek developed and
provided to Agfa under the confidentiality agreement."
Specifically, the panel ordered Agfa to transfer its U.S. Patent
No. 5,378,580 to Presstek,"

The following is that patent in question
----------------------------------------------------------------
5378580 : Heat mode recording material and method for
producing driographic printing plates
INVENTORS:Leenders; Luc, Herentals, Belgium
ASSIGNEES:AGFA-Gevaert, N.V., Mortsel,
BelgiumISSUED:Jan.ÿ3 ,ÿ1995ÿFILED: Mayÿ11,ÿ1993

PRST could license their technology to Kodak. This would
verify the market for processless thermal CTP plates and
would create untold revenue. Don't get to crazy, I am not
suggesting that such an event will occur, just that it could.
Kodak is smart enough to understand that it may be easier to
join em than beat em. Fuji has already made that leap by
carring both the PEARLgold plates and the thermal
imagesetters.

I still believe that eventually, Heidelberg will have to license
the "DI" technology on there SM-74DI from PRST.

I provide the following patents as an impressive list if nothing
else.
