BLUE BELL, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 26, 1998--Acrodyne Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: ACRO - news), a leading manufacturer and installer of television transmitters is pleased to announce agreements with Media Properties, Inc. and Sainte Partners II LP for the delivery and installation of high power Diacrode(R) equipped transmitters in Wisconsin and California. These agreements, valued in excess of $1.5 million, add to the steadily increasing list of Acrodyne high power UHF transmitter users. The agreement with Media Properties, Inc. calls for installation of a three tube 180KW high power Diacrode(R) transmitter at channel 57, which will serve Madison and Southern Wisconsin. Channel 57 is scheduled to commence broadcasting in mid-October 1998. Bill Le Monds, WHPN General Manager, said, ''Our 5 million watt ERP coverage plan required 180kW of transmitter power output broadcasting from our 1,114 foot tower. The Acrodyne Au180D is the only transmitter to deliver 180kW visual with 10% aural using only three tubes, economizing on electrical power needs. The purchase of the Acrodyne high power Diacrode(R) transmitter was a sound and long-term economic decision.'' Acrodyne is installing an Au30D Diacrode(R) equipped 30kW UHF transmitter in northern California for Sainte Partners II LP. The transmitter is for a new channel 34 to serve the Sacramento market. Acrodyne's exclusive exciter system, including GPS receiver, will maintain precise frequency stability. Installation will be completed in the fall of 1998. Chester Smith, group owner of Sainte Partners II LP, said of his Super Power LPTV station, ''This is the first of its kind. We're feeding 15 kilowatts into each plane of a CP antenna.'' Channel 34 will be competing in a full service market. Sainte Partner II also owns KNSO-Fresno, KBVU-Eureka, and KCVU-Paradise, CA. A. Robert Mancuso, President and CEO of Acrodyne, stated, ''These recent orders for high power UHF transmitters further validate Acrodyne's position on Diacrode(R) technology. Our exclusive correction circuitry, clean drive power and linear tube combine to give us a superior transmitter line for NTSC and DTV.''
