LT,

<<They're looking at having merchant media folks build the entire removable cartridge for them.>>

Actually not the first time its been done. Few knew about it but Seagate media had a merchant charter from their board of directors for a while. It was part of a plan by Conner media at the time Seagate took it over. One piece of business was to build media and cartridge for IOMEGA. It lasted only a few months.

I have looked hard at the removable cartridge market which has diverged into a low end, floppy replacement market and a high end market. I am pretty impressed with the possibilities (aside from the silly claims by anyone that removable will replace HDDs). The numbers look good on a forecast basis and there are applications galore for these devices. I am very impressed with Castlewood's specs.

I agree with you. Execution in manufacturing and OEM quals are the two important factors now.

Best,
Stitch
