T may have done TLAB a favor. Their primary motivation, no doubt was to do LU a favor. It hurt TLAB's share price and credibility and also cast shadows over the technical lead CIEN has, so any "price break" pales in comparison. Any future acquis by TLAB will be hampered short term by a low stock price.

Also, regarding this tailspin debate about losing T as a customer, pleas note that T was not a customer. It's not worth speculating which way TLAB thought the T deal might fall. In any big deal you can't count your chickens ...

As to TLAB's DD. it was mostly around the technology, not the revenue pipeline, I believe. (Of course they were buying a going concern, but this was more strategic than it was an attempt to add to earnings in the next 1-2 quarters). If it turns out this was something other than a favor to LU -- that CIEN really is having problems with their 40 DWDM, or that T found some undsicovered fault with the system, then TLAB would have made a mistake. This does not appear likely at present.
