Scale-Up Completed - Excellent Results for Larger Altair Jig

CODY, Wyo., Aug. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Altair International Inc. (Nasdaq: ALTIF - news) has successfully completed testing which demonstrates that the Altair Centrifugal Jig volume throughput can be increased, or ''scaled-up'', while retaining separation efficiency. Tests were done on a Centrifugal Jig which has five times the throughput capacity of the earlier reported Series 12/8 jigs.

''These results are economically important -- this larger volume jig is consistent in scale with projected commercial processing requirements for our Tennessee deposit,'' said Dr. William Long, President of Altair. (As previously reported, approximately 60% of the valuable titanium particles are finer than 200 mesh and cannot be recovered with traditional gravity separators.) ''As well, the larger volume jig provides access to additional industries and market applications greatly enhancing our large-scale commercial opportunities.''

Altair test work with the large 30/16 jig was done in a production environment at a heavy mineral sand processing facility in northern Florida. Testing determined that the excellent separation results achieved earlier with the smaller 12/8 Jig could now be replicated with a jig having five times greater throughput. Testing goals matched previously achieved 90% zircon concentrate grades and 50% plus zircon recoveries in a single process pass.

Zircon Concentrate Grade Zircon Recovery
93.4% 62.4%
95.2% 56.6%

An additional 30/16 model Altair Jig is currently being constructed. CAD drawings have been completed facilitating automated manufacturing. Also, design work has begun on a yet larger version of the Altair Centrifugal Jig for high volume coal wash plant use.
