Zeuspaul, I am sending my Dell R400 back and a replacement is coming next week, so I am using my P166 right now.

I find that the P400 is fast, but not as fast as I thought it would be. Even running Photoshop 5, it loads very quick on the new machine but sometimes I wonder if it justifys the 3400.00 price tag. (box only)

When I upgraded from a 486 DX66 to a P133 it was an impressive jump in speed. But from a 166 to a 400 is not realy that spectacular.

Just my observation.

Zeus,

My bet would be on the MillII. Swap another video card in there and see if that helps. Check to see if you have the latest VESA BIOS support for dos....

Just read the part on the keyboard. see if you can turn the repeat rate up in the bios or use a DOS TSR to turn this up. Norton Utilities for DOS anyversion has feature to do this. That could certainly be the problem. I the subprogram in question is called norton control center.

Have you compared the keyboard repeat rate across the three machines. That should tell you the answer right there.

Sean

>> The DOS / PII slowness issue

So it seems we are now into particular application performance
issues, which don't seem particularly related to the hardware
configuration. We've never discussed brands of keyboards
as a performance issue <gg>.

So it doesn't seem like there's a lot to be learned by going
further, unless some other aspect surfaces. Yes? I don't
see it, anyhow. Do you agree??
