Michael,

<<Crisis?? testing a few dozen of our Tomahawks missiles doesn't constitute a crisis.>

I'm not talking about the missiles. I'm talking about our money. Asia is on the edge of a dive that will make the last one look insignificant, Russia is teetering on the brink, the IMF is totally unable to cope. This could lead to a real live global recession, if not depression. A little adroit leadership could make a huge difference.

I really don't worry about the Chinese. The prospect of Russia in depression worries me.

Steve

<< Steven, if the Republicans tried 1/10th of the stuff this administration got away with, the liberal media would have been demanding their head long ago. >>

Excuse me. Do you remember the hundreds of billions lost on the Savings and Loan during the Reagan years? The money was flat-out stolen. I was in the Austin area at the time, and virtually every car at the S&Ls had a Reagan/Bush sticker on it as they were conspiring in the back rooms. Before it was ever made public, I told my wife that they were robbing the places, and she just rolled her eyes, thinking that I was nuts. So what do we concentrate on? A little piss ant S&L in Arkansas that lost about 1/1000th the amount that Bush's son was responsible for at Silverado. Wouldn't you like to see him and the others punished? Hardly anybody was, and they kept the loot.
