DVD begins to roll as BMG/Sony enter fray

BMG and Sony are poised to release their first music video titles based on the new DVD format which some industry executives believe will give the sector a much needed shot in the arm.

Robin Wilson, general manager of BMG Video UK, says the company plans to release all big-name music video titles on DVD as well as VHS in future. "[DVD] has got all the advantages and none of the disadvantages of the other formats which could take over from VHS," he says.
